The answer is 'Lite-Brite'. Introduced in the late 1960s this toy just creeps on to our list. Before LEDs, there was the Lite-Brite. Essentially it was a box with a light bulb behind a black sheet of paper. It was brought to life with translucent coloured pegs that could be plugged into the box, allowing kids to create pictures with the light. Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best.
