Rumors had suggested that the next-generation iPad Mini would likely debut in 2025, but Apple surprised everyone by officially announcing it today. The newly unveiled iPad Mini 7 retains the design of its predecessor, with a thickness of 6.3mm. The Wi-Fi and 5G models weigh 293g and 297g, respectively. It features a top power button that integrates Touch ID, a USB-C port at the bottom, and a magnetic area on the side for the Apple Pencil.
The device is powered by the A17 Pro chip, which has one less GPU core than the iPhone 15 Pro, ensuring smooth performance for Appleās AI capabilities. It sports an 8.3-inch LCD display with a resolution of 2,266 x 1,488, though the refresh rate remains at 60Hz. The iPad Mini 7 is equipped with a 19.3Wh battery and comes standard with a 20W USB-C charger. Additionally, it supports the Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil (USB-C) with hover sensing capabilities.
Both the front and back of the device feature 12MP cameras, and it supports Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6E, and eSIM. The new iPad Mini is available in 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB storage options. Pre-orders begin today, with the official launch set for October 23.
